Terrible dialogue and so little screen time just kills the point of having a bad guy like him in the first place, and that sucks because x and y has some really cool backstory, with the 3 thousand year old weapon and all that. But this point wasn’t carried across well at all. The whole point of Lysander is kinda like thanos, where he sees there isn’t enough resources and aims to chop down the population to fix that. On the complete opposite side of things, Lysander had some cool ideas going for him, but holy hell his motives were stupid. Going back to lusamine, she was actually a really geniusly written character, but my god they needed to show this better. I don’t want this to come off as a “vent” or anything, but I think whatever section that works on these game’s stories seriously needs some restructuring, or a new approach, or something along those lines. That’s not to say that’s always the case though, one example is lusamine’s admittedly clever line to Lilly, being: “when did you become so beautiful?” Gamefreak has shown time and time again they don’t really know how to end a story ark well. Like.what? I think the main issue behind this is simply the writing itself just not being very good. Like in gen 6-8 alone, I think a total of 4 villains just turned themselves into the cops.
